SAW Operator (Internal/External)

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years work experience
• Technical Diploma / Certificate Course w/ 1 yr. exp /or High School w/ 3 yrs. exp. /or General Education (up to 8 Grade) w/ 5 yrs. exp /or General Education (Less than 8 Grade) w/ 8 yrs. exp.
• Knowledge of ASME IX + any experience using SAW/SMAW equipment in spiral pipe mills/fabrication ; Valid welding qualification
• Jaegar No. 1 Eyesight requirement within last 12 months; or Ishihara Eye Chart within last 12 months
  Good communication skills in English.

Responsibilities:

• Internal Responsibilities : Controlling the internal Submerged Arc Welding activities on production mill ; Controlling the Pipe forming dimensions, maintaining accuracy
• Ensuring the welding is accurately and centrally aligned to the joint.; Ensure good quality, defect free welds are produced
• Following the approved welding procedure for the Mill ; Checking the levels of wire and flux are sufficient for the shift duration
• Changing the Milling Inserts during HRC change and Skelp welding ; Inform Team Members when welding wire and flux levels are to be topped up.
• Informing Mill Forman of any welding machinery issues and operating it efficiently and safely
• External Responsibilities: Controlling the external Submerged Arc Welding activities on production mill
