CARPET LAYER

Qualifications:

• Must have valid passport / With driver License restriction 1 & 2 .
• Fully vaccinated
• Have 5 years experience in installing the following : Timber LVT/Laminate Polished Concrete Carpet & Carpet Tiles
• Candidate must be able to work alone, and our expectation is that the candidate could complete 15 – 20 l/m (3.66 x 30m) per day minimum.
• Able to read a floor plan with measurements and job sheet with address and details of job and site – all prepared in English and confidentially communicate any questions or concerns.
• Ability to ramp carpet to tile junctions using floor preparation materials such as levelling compound and concrete grinding.
• Able to cut carpet as directed in the plan. Load carpet in to vans and into site without causing any damage e.g. not scratching paint.

Job Description:

• Spot filling holes, scraping floor to remove plaster etc, general cleaning of floor.
• Checking the height of another floor finish in the unit, e.g. the ceramic tiles and confirm whether the height of the carpet will be sufficient with the height of the other floor finish
• Check measurements as shown on plan match measurements as existing on site.
• Installation of smooth edge to the perimeter of a room via nailing and gluing
• Must be able to install smooth edge without damage the skirtings.
• Install residential and commercial grade underlay including taping joins to entire area to be carpeted, stairs and under stairs as required.
• Ability to trim, tuck and power stretch
• Able to lay carpet tiles.
• Ability to lay patterned carpet or axminster.
• Ability to install commercial carpet via direct stick or directly glued to floor.
• Ability to install commercial carpet via double stick where carpet is glued to subfloor and to underlay.
• Fitting naplok or finishing bars as required
• Ability to train and teach others the above as required by the employer from time to time.
